Dear Mr. & Mrs. Ratcliff:
One of the responsibilities assigned to the Public Health Service/Food and Drug Administration by the National Conference on Interstate Milk Shipments is the federal check-rating of listed interstate milk shippers. Your dairy farm is included within the Echo Mountain Goat Dairy-White City, OR listing in the Interstate Milk Shippers List. These federal check-ratings, of listed shippers, are conducted every three years.
On January 26, 1999, I conducted a federal check-rating of your dairy facilities. I visited your dairy, along with Messrs. Paulson and Hill, Oregon State Department of Agriculture. I am very please to say that your dairy farm scored a perfect 100 on this federal check-rating. Your dairy is one of only six dairies in the States of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington, that FDA has given a perfect score on a federal check-rating, over the last seven years.
At this time, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to you and your family for their dedication, commitment and leadership shown toward the dairy industry. The industry needs more dairy people like yourself, that are committed to producing the highest quality of milk available. The professional dairy people and dairy families are extremely hard working individuals, which in most situations are not being acknowledged for their true efforts in producing the world's most perfect food, milk. It is only through dedication like yours that the true meaning of producing the best possible milk supply for all the people takes shape.
Again, on behalf of the regulatory community, myself and the Food and Drug Administration, I would like to say thank-you for a job well done. Please keep up the excellent work and be extremely proud of your accomplishment. I know that I will always remember your dairy.
