On this date, fifty six years ago, having experienced the worst Christmas and New Year's Eve of their lives, the members of the 22nd Bomb Group were at Muroc Dry Lake, California. Operating from what formerly was a bombing and gunnery range, the unit became the first medium fully armed bomb group to patrol the west coast following Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor.
