I have a question for those who served in the 22nd during the B26 period. I believe the early B26's were delivered with a tunnel-gun in the bottom of the rear fuselage and two observation windows in the beam position. From a study of photo's I suspect they were subsequently modified (in Aus?) with two beam guns fitted in the position of the previous observation windows, with two additional windows fitted above the beam guns. At the same time the codes that were originally on the rear fuselage appear to have been moved to the fin and rudder. Can anyone tell me if this interpretation of the photo's is correct?
