Thought some of you might be interested to know that the nose art penl from this aircraft survived the war and was placed on display at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra, Australian in the early 1980s. It was dug up by a dozer operator at the Antill Plains airstrip west of Townsville in the early 1980s. I was Curator of Aircraft at the AWM at that time and arranged for it to be placed on display there. I beleive it was still there until recently. We never could work out though how the panel got from Turnbull Strip to Antill Palins. We guessed that Shittenengitten must have been temporarily repaired and ferried back to Australia where it was hen judged to be beyond repair? Mark Clayton
